Sutherland Shire Council and construction contractor Polytan expect the fields and their infrastructure, plus parking and an amenities building, to be open in March-April.

The latest formal inspection of the facility yesterday showed that all pitch base works and surroundsĀ  are complete, with large rolls of shock pads delivered and ready for installation from next week.

40,000 litres

A water tank with a capacity of more than 40,000 litres is on site for the fields’ watering systems.

The steel and timber frames for the amenities building are well underway. The brick and Colorbond building, initially a canteen, two change rooms, toilets and storeroom, has been designed so that it can be expanded towards the western field.

The car park is also being built; kerbing and guttering is finished.
