Draw for Finals

This weekend is Finals for our local competition. Games at Jenola will be played on Jenola 1. The first grade game is at Sylvania on Sunday. Below is the draw and some notes from our Competitions Director. Goodluck to all teams!

The Draw can be found here.

Match cards must be submitted to Frank Crawford at frank@crawford.emu.id.au and to Janice Tully at competitions@sydneysouthhockey.com.au by 5pm Wednesday. If teams are not making any changes to the card submitted last week, then no new card is required. However, if any changes are required, then a new card must be submitted (ie you can’t just email in changes from last week). Please note – players CAN NOT be added to the match cards which are provided by the technical officials on the weekend. If a player is not on the official printed card they are not eligible to play the game.

A reminder of some information for next weekend:

1. There will be an area marked out with cones on the canteen side of Jenola 1 as the technical area. Only the coaches, manager and players named on the match cad and match officials are permitted in this area. All substitutions must take place from this area.

2. At Sylvania only the named players and coaches/managers are permitted in the team dug outs. No-one other than the technical official and umpires is permitted in the technical dugout.

3. No spectators, parents or coaches are permitted behind any of the goals on any of the fields.

4. No spectators are permitted on the dugout side of the field at Sylvania.

5. Club uniforms must be worn. This does not include shorts for female players. No club has specified shorts to be part of their uniform. Skins/thermal wear which are/is significantly longer than a uniform skort or shorts (for boys) must not be worn.

6. Jenola is NOT an off leash dog area. A number of parents/spectators have allowed their dogs to run free at Jenola this season. This is not permitted at any time, whether or not a game is in progress.

7. Finals may have up to 2 periods of up to 7 minutes each of golden goal extra time. If games are still drawn at the completion of extra time then the teams finishing higher on the pointscore after the regular season will be deemed to be the winners.

8. If a game goes to extra time the follow rules apply:

a. There is a 5 minute break after completion of the game.

b. Teams take the field in the first period of extra time running in the same direction as they did in the first half of the game, with the same team starting with the ball as started with the ball at the beginning of the game.

c. If a goal is scored the game is over.

d. If a second period of extra time is required, players are required to turn straight around. There is no break between the two periods of extra time. The team which started the second half of the game with the ball, starts the second period of extra time with the ball.

e. Penalty Corners are played out at the end of both the first and second periods of extra time, if required.

9. The canteen will be open at Jenola on Saturday, but there will be no BBQ.

10. The club house will be open at Sylvania on Sunday but there will be no hot food, other than raisin toast and banana bread. There will be tea and coffee available.
