Greenhills update January 2018

It is 2018 which for Sydney South is the Year of Greenhills.

If you follow us on Facebook you will be able to see recent photos of the new facilities. You can see that the lightpoles, fencing, dugouts and sprinklers are all set to go!

Ausgrid have connected the grid to the facilities.  The delays to the opening of Greenhills were primarily related to electricity and it is a big step that this step has been completed.

The next step is for Sutherland Shire Council to commission the retail provider to provide the final part of the connection.   We expect this to be done by end of January 2018.

The Council has also negotiated access to the site with the developers prior to a formal handover.  This will then allow Council to provide Sydney South Hockey Association with access although this requires an Occupation Certificate.  We don’t anticipate this to be a problem.

We thank you for your onging patience and we are very excited at the prospect of hockey being played at Greenhills from the beginning of the 2018 season.

The Association will be running competitions at Greenhills in 2018 that will include:

  • under 7s on a one-eighth sized field
  • under 9s on quarter size field
  • under 11s on half size fields
  • under 13s and 15s on full field for mixed teams
  • a dedicated all girls competition(s) for under 18s
  • an open womens competition

These competitions are open to all clubs (including those from outside Sydney South).  For more information please email competitions@sydneysouthhockey.com.au

Teams competing in other hockey competitions will be using Greenhills as their home field in 2018.  If you have a team that would like to play at Greenhills, please contact secretary@sydneysouthhockey.com.au
